Common faults of LED display and maintenance skills?

Industry News,News,Top news

By industry, LED display belong to electronic products, as long as it is an electronic product, then it is inevitable that there will be failures in the process of use. So what are the tips for repairing the LED display?

Friends who have been in contact with LED display screens know that LED display screens are made up of LED modules piece by piece. As mentioned above, the LED display is an electronic product, so its basic structure is the display surface (light surface), PCB (circuit board), and control surface (IC components).

When it comes to tips for repairing LED displays, let’s talk about common faults first. Common faults include: partial “dead lights”, “caterpillars”, partial missing color blocks, partial black screens, large black screens, local garbled characters, etc.

So how to repair these common glitches? First of all, prepare the maintenance tools. There are five treasures for LED display maintenance workers: tweezers, heat gun, soldering iron, multimeter, and test card. Other auxiliary materials include: solder paste (tin wire), solder accelerator, copper wire, glue, etc.

1, Partial “dead light” problem

Partial “dead light” means that one or several lights on the light surface of the LED display are not bright. This kind of non-light is divided into full-time non-light and partial color non-light. Generally, this situation is caused by a problem with the light itself. Either it is damp or the RGB chip is damaged. Our repair method is very simple, that is, replace it with the spare LED lamp beads provided by the factory. The tools used are tweezers and a heat gun. After replacing the spare LED lamp beads, use Test the test card again, if there is no problem, it has been repaired.

2, The “caterpillar” problem

“Caterpillar” is just a metaphor. It refers to the phenomenon that when the LED display is powered on and there is no input source, a long dark and bright strip appears on some lamp surfaces, and most of them are red. The root cause of this phenomenon is the leakage of the internal chip of the lamp, or the short circuit of the IC circuit behind the lamp, the former is the majority. Generally, when this happens, we only need to hold a heat gun and blow hot air along the discolored “caterpillar” of the leakage. When it blows to the problematic lamp, it is generally OK, because the heat makes the internal leakage chip connection It is opened, but there are still hidden dangers. We only need to find the LED lamp bead that is leaking electricity, and replace this hidden danger lamp bead according to the method mentioned above. If there is a short circuit on the pipeline on the backside of the IC, you need to use a multimeter to measure the relevant IC pin circuit and replace it with a new IC.

3, Partial color block missing

Friends who are familiar with LED displays must have seen this kind of problem that is when the LED display is playing normally, a small square of different colors appears, which is square and square. This kind of problem is usually caused by the burning of the color IC behind the color block. Yes, the solution is to change to a new IC.

4, Partial black screen and large area black screen

Usually we say black screen means that when the LED display screen is playing normally, one or more LED modules will not light up in the entire area. We call it a partial black screen if a few LED modules are not lit. More areas are called black screens. It is a large area of black screen. This phenomenon occurs, generally we first consider the power factor. Generally, check whether the LED power indicator light is working normally. If the LED power indicator light is not on, the power supply may be damaged. Just replace it with a new power supply of the corresponding power. You should also check whether the power cord of the LED module corresponding to the black screen is loose. In many cases, re-twisting the thread can also solve the black screen problem.

5, Partial garbled characters

The problem of local garbled characters is more complicated. It refers to the phenomenon of messy, irregular, and possibly random flickering color blocks in local areas when the LED display is playing. When this kind of problem occurs, we usually first check the connection problem of the signal cable, you can check whether the cable is burned, whether the network cable is loose, and so on. In the maintenance practice, we found that the cable made of aluminum-magnesium wire is easy to burn out, while the pure copper cable has a longer life. If there is no problem with the entire signal connection, then exchange the problematic LED module with the adjacent normal playback module, and you can basically judge whether it is possible that the LED module corresponding to the abnormal playback area is damaged, and the cause of the damage is mostly an IC problem. , and the maintenance process will be more complicated. No more details here.

In short, the maintenance of LED display is a long-term process of accumulating experience, if you still have problems that cannot be solved, please feel free to contact us.
